The Sonoma Valley Voice started as a local newsletter in 1997, utilizing local writing talent to cover stories and also write commentaries. Its scope – issues covered – expanded over time to include features on national and world issues. It continued to rely heavily on local writers, though included other writers, known and unknown. The SVV went online in 2002-3, and besides local coverage and commentary added a good deal of other sources from print and the Web ranging broadly in interest. The site has not been active since 2006.

Primarily the SVV has, and is now, focused on political, social and economic justice, and environmental/ecological issues. It’s not limited to these broad and complex matters, but its content generally falls within these realms. Always the focus is on good writing, presenting in-depth analysis on substantive matters.

A new feature of this updated Web site is that readers will be able to comment on what is published if they wish. All are invited and encouraged to submit any written materials of a pertinent nature, but there is no guarantee of publication. The beauty of the Net is it’s a toll free highway and everyone gets to drive, or ride if they prefer.

So, if goings on in Sonoma County, Northern California or anywhere far outside these borders are of interest to you, and you appreciate good writing on a wide variety of topics, you’re invited to check out this Web site. And do let us know what you think, we believe in keeping the lines of communication open.
